Dear Nyssa School District Parents and students,
I am sending this communication to make sure all have the same story.
Yesterday afternoon, while elementary students were on the playground, some students heard loud noises, resembling firecrackers or paintball. Adults on the playground immediately reported this to the principal, who called police. Police responded immediately and located two adult males nearby, driving a vehicle. The adult males had an "Orbeez" gun, which is a small air gun that shoots water-or gel-filled pellets. There was no threat to students or staff, and police have apprehended the two subjects, who are facing potential criminal charges. Thank you to our staff, students, and local police who all responded quickly to resolve the issue within minutes.

The Migrant Education team is doing Migrant Summer School registration in the evenings this week. The team will be in the District office from 4:15 p.m. - 8 p.m., Tuesday through Friday. NHS Senior Parents , we will be extending the community service deadline for seniors to April 22nd. Community service is a state diploma requirement and students must meet all diploma requirements in order to participate in their graduation ceremony. This deadline exists so that we can order graduation announcement, diplomas, and miscellaneous graduation items. Please talk to your senior and help them find a way to complete their remaining community service prior to April 22. THANK YOU!

The Nyssa FFA Awards Banquet and Scholarship Auction will be tonight at 6:00pm in the Nyssa High School Cafeteria. Come have fun and support our FFA students. The Nyssa Girls Basketball team has been selected as the 3A recipient of the Les Schwab Team of the Month award for February 2022. Today CJ from our local Les Schwab presented some of our team and coaches their plaque and check! We are super proud of our girls basketball players!!

NHS Sports update: Due to rain the baseball and softball games scheduled for today have been rescheduled. The Baseball games will be made up after spring break. The softball games have been moved to Thursday, March 17 with JV playing at 3:00 and Varsity playing at 5:00.
