We’ve had some amazing teachers recognized by The Argus Observer and Rogue Credit Union as Teachers of the Month for September, October, November, and December! They're all in the running for Teacher of the Year. Here is the increible next recipient of our Olympic Torch chosen by Ms. Dalton. This is what she said: "I would like to nominate the member of staff on whom I rely the most: Mrs. Lupe Rios. Mrs. Rios started in 1988, so 2025 will be her 37th year with NES! It's no wonder that she is a walking encyclopedia of student knowledge, having built up a wonderful rapport with the community over the years. She not only provides linguistic support to multilingual learners, but also a sense of belonging and calm that our students so often need. Whether it's guiding students to the right bus, mopping up a spill, arranging breakfast items for easy pick-up, aiding in preparation of materials, being steadfast and reliable classroom support, leading her own small group during Newcomer's intervention, or being a source of sound advice and key insights, Mrs. Rios stands out as modest, helpful, diligent, and admirable. I am proud everyday to work with her and hope to continue to learn from her for as long as possible." Congrats Mrs. Rios! Here is the next recipient of our Olympic Torch this week chosen by Mrs. Cudaback. Here is what she said: "I would like to pass the torch to Ms. Lauren Dalton. Ms. Dalton is the Elementary’s ELD teacher. I just want her to know that we appreciate everything she has done to help our ELL students become successful. She not only teaches a group of our students during our ELD block, but she is always providing resources and strategies that we can use to help ELL students in our classroom throughout the entire day. Her dedication and willingness to step in and help out in every area has truly made a big difference to our school. Her positive attitude, hard work, and ability to collaborate with others is inspiring, and it’s clear that we all benefit from her contributions. It shows that Ms. Dalton is very committed to our students, and we are lucky to have her at the elementary. I look forward to seeing all the great things that she continues to bring to the elementary school." Congrats Ms. Dalton! We are back from Winter Break and with that, we continue "Passing the Torch." So here is our next recipient chosen by Mr. Dalton. Here is what he said: "The idiom "herding cats" is sometimes used to describe the challenges of teaching kindergarten. I have chosen Mrs. Cudaback. She is cheerful, caring, highly dedicated , professional yet personable, highly skilled at differentiation, communicative and has data backed results. All elementary teachers are like the rest of the district employees extremely diligent and consistent. The kindergarten teachers help the students in their first experiences and teach them the fundamentals of reading, writing, math as well as social and emotional skills. She is an expert at 'herding cats'". Congrats Mrs. Cudaback! ¡Estamos de regreso de las vacaciones de invierno y, con eso, continuamos "Pasando la Antorcha." We had a special visitor today for our last day of school! We hope everyone has a wonderful Winter Break! The 3rd-5th Grade Dance Team, led by Mrs. Burbank, had an awesome and fun performance yesterday at the Elementary Awards Assembly and the High School basketball game. The Elementary School had a fantastic turnout and so much fun at their Ornament Night! Families enjoyed free book giveaways, read-alouds, hot chocolate, and, most importantly, the opportunity to have fun and get creative together. Thank you to everyone who attended and to those who helped at the event! ¡La Escuela Primaria tuvo una participación fantástica y se divirtió mucho en su Noche de Adornos! Here is this weeks recipient of our Olympic Torch, chosen by Mr. Blanchard. Here is what he said: "The recipient I have chosen this week is Brad Dalton. Mr. Dalton is a rare educator who is certified and teaches both advanced sciences and advanced mathematics. He holds his students to high rigorous standards of performance, yet keeps mathematics interesting and inviting. He is also a teacher who is not afraid to try new things or lead the way in teaching new classes. The new Applied Mathematics course which he has taken on gives students at Nyssa High School an additional path through the world of mathematics. Yet always be careful of anyone who is a Dallas Cowboys fan, especially this year." Congrats Mr. Dalton! Aquí está el receptor de la Antorcha Olímpica de esta semana, elegido por el Sr. Blanchard. We want to give a big shoutout to these amazing students and staff! They worked hard to pick up and deliver food and toys to our Nyssa community. We had a great Christmas Concert put on by our Nyssa Elementary students! A huge THANK YOU to Mrs. VanCorbach for preparing them to perform these awesome Christmas songs! ¡Tuvimos un gran Concierto Navideño presentado por nuestros estudiantes de la Primaria! ¡Un enorme GRACIAS a la Sra. VanCorbach por prepararlos para cantar estas increíbles canciones navideñas!

Last night our Middle School and High School band put on a great concert for our Nyssa School District families and community! Great job everyone! ¡Anoche, nuestras bandas de la Secundaria y Preparatoria tuvieron un gran concierto para las familias y la comunidad del Distrito Escolar de Nyssa! ¡Buen trabajo a todos!

Our Elementary School will be having their Christmas Concert this Thursday, December 12th. Here are the times for each group/grades. The kids are excited to sing in front of their family and alongside their friends. We hope you can make it! Nuestra Escuela Primaria tendrá su concierto de Navidad este jueves 12 de diciembre.
